On the 19th of October 2017, AICC (Austrian Israeli Chamber of Commerce), the Blue Minds Company, WeXelerate and the ÖAMTC hosted a top-level e-mobility event in Vienna, discussing “The Future of Mobility“. Rainer Nowak (Editorial Director, Die Presse) and Alexander Hotowy (Managing Partner, accilium) had the honor to lead through the evening.
A clear highlight was the keynote of Lior Sethon (Deputy General Manager, Mobileye), who presented the latest developments in autonomous driving and gave insights about projects of Mobileye. Mobileye is an Israeli Start-Up, bought for 15,3 Mrd. US-Dollar by Intel in 2017 and now the market leader for autonomous driving technologies. Founded with the Vision to avoid car accidents, their technology can already recognize position, cars and relevant road users with an accuracy of 99,9 %.
As part of a panel discussion, mobility experts Walter Kreisel (CEO, Kreisel Systems), Hermann Stockinger (CEO, EasE-Link) and Thomas Daiber (CEO, Hubject Berlin) together with Lior Sethon discussed the question "Will humans still drive in an autonomous future?"
That is, is according to Lior not just a question about technology, but about restrictions. As Thomas Daiber is pointing out, political support, deregulation, courage and trust in the change is needed to make autonomous driving a reality.
